Primates are found all over the world but are mostly found in the tropical or subtropical regions of Central and South America, Africa, and southern Asia with a few species existing as far north as Southern Mexico in the Americas and also northern Japan in Asia.
Primates include lemurs, monkeys, apes and of course humans.
My passion has been for the Orang-utan, the only great apes of Asia, found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra and with remarkably similar anatomy, physiology, and behaviour to us humans.
A two week trip to Malaysian Borneo provided my first Orang-utan experience in 2009 and then I was back again a year later to do it all again.
I would love to go to Africa to visit the Gorilla but that will have to remain a dream. Practicalities and financial considerations have all but crossed that off my bucket lust.
Now I am content to reflect on past travels and the thousands of photos taken.
The following articles are from some of my favourites primate experiences. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
